The last time Houston was this cold, Bill Clinton was president
On Wednesday, Houston's temperature dropped to a low of 19 degrees – the first time in 22 years.
Thanks to this week's deep freeze, the last time Houston was that cold was Jan. 8, 1996.
At the time, Bill Clinton was president, there were only three Star Wars movies and The Houston Oilers were the city's football team.
OUCH: Texas 18-wheeler makes brave attempt to climb an icy hill. It doesn't go well.
As one might expect, 19 degrees isn't the coldest temperature in Houston history.
Jan. 18, 1930 takes the cake with a bone-chilling 5 degrees. Back then, Herbert Hoover was president and Houston had a measly 292,352 residents.
On the other hand, you don't have to look far to find Houston's hottest day. On Sept. 4, 2000, and on Aug. 27, 2011, Houston's temperature hit a high of 109 degrees.
