Letter: Trump is doing just what Putin wants

Letter writer says Trump is doing exactly what Putin wants.

President Donald Trump is doing exactly what Vladimir Putin wants, and news agencies don’t seem to care. Although Congress passed a new Russia sanctions bill last summer, Trump reluctantly signed it under GOP pressure, and now is not implementing its provisions. Just what Putin wants. Trump is doing nothing to prevent another round of Russian election warfare in 2018. He denies that Russia meddled. Just what Putin wants. Trump has had multiple friendly meetings with Putin. There is only one legitimate reason for Trump to talk with Putin — to instruct him forcefully to stop meddling in our elections. Instead, Trump is obsequious. Just what Putin wants.Trump is dividing our country and encouraging us to fight among ourselves rather than fight Putin. Just what Putin wants.

GOP gerrymandering and voter suppression, combined with Fox propaganda and Russia’s cyber warfare, are likely to ensure another GOP victory in 2018. Just what Putin wants.
