Mumbai: The commuters on the Central line may face inconvenience today as the Central Railway has planned a mega block on both up and down lines between Ambivali and Asangaon for five hours. The block is supposed to facilitate the completion of the 3.759 meters wide Foot Over Bridge at Ambivali.  Two steel girders for construction of the bridge are to be launched by the Army. The Railways had told the Army to execute the work on Sunday but the latter was not inclined.

Result: The down suburban train services for Titwala /Asangaon/Kasara leaving CST from 09.12 am to 1.30 pm and the up services from 09.54 am to 3.02 pm will remain cancelled. The block will also affect mail and express trains, which will see the cancellation of four and diversion and rescheduling of 16.

The commuters should leave early so that they reach office in time and do not get stuck at the station, as 54 trains will be cancelled due to the mega block.  Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway, CSMT, has requested the passengers to cope with the administration and bear with the hardship. CR officials said arrangements will be made to ensure commuters are ferried to their destinations during the block.
