Ujjain: A memorandum was placed at King Vikramaditya’s statue under the leadership of Congress leader Vivek Yadav oppose irregularities at Mahakaleshwar Temple. It also demanded that mythology should not be tampered with. The memorandum stated that if dictatorship of BJP leaders at the temple did not end, then the Congress would organise a mass awareness rally to save archaeological and mythological significance.

Congress men said the rally, would expose how the BJP leaders were politicizing religion and how their arbitrariness was destroying the mythology of religion. According to Yadav, the BJP and RSS were hijacking the Mahakaleshwar temple. “First they occupied the land of Mahakaleshwar Temple and now they have a place of union in the name of Bharat Mata Temple, constructed behind it. Devotees now have to pay to visit the temple and massive rigging is being done under the pretext of arrangements. The donation received from devotees is also misused and its biggest example was the Shaiv Mahotsav. Removal of small temples in the Mahakaleshwar temple premises without paying heed to any religious sentiments, shows that administration is doing whatever it feels like,” he said.

Congress spokesman Rajesh Tiwari said intellectuals have been removed from intellectual’s council and the people taking decisions had no knowledge about traditions. “Minister Paras Jain considers Mahakaleshwar Temple as a medium of publicity. The truth is everybody is destroying the archaeological glory of Mahakal and this will stop only when the public revolts against them,” Tiwari said.

Congress leaders Arun Verma, Seeta Soni, Darshan Thakur, Jitendra Goyal, Dharmedra Khoobchandani, Amber Mathur and others were present while the memorandum was given.
