Rupert Murdoch was hospitalized with "a serious back injury" after an incident on his son Lachlan's yacht during a Caribbean getaway earlier in January, according to a report.
The News Corp. and 21st Century Fox chief, 86, was flown by helicopter to receive medical treatment, staying at a Los Angeles hospital as he recuperated, sources told Vanity Fair.
Murdoch informed his senior management team via email on Friday that he would be working from home "for weeks," but a 21st Century Fox spokesperson declined to comment to the magazine on his condition.
Murdoch returned to the news this week after reports White House adviser and first daughter Ivanka Trump and husband, fellow adviser Jared Kushner, were warned that the Australian-born media mogul's ex-wife Wendi Deng may try to use her friendship with the couple to "further the interests of the Chinese government.”
21st Century Fox is currently in talks to sell its film and television assets to Disney as part of a $52.4 billion deal, according to multiple reports.
