Nazzerine Donato, the 91-year-old man who was flown to the burn unit at Westchester Medical Center after a fire last month at his Slingerlands home, has died, according to an obituary.

Donato died on Saturday, according to the obituary published in the Times Union. A graveside service is planned for Donato at9:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.

He was badly injured when a fire started at her 492 Font Grove Road home.

Donato and his dog made it out of the burning building. The dog also died.

The fire spread quickly, authorities said, blaming the swift progress of the fire to its age and the asphalt shingles on its sides.

Donato was treated at the scene, then airlifted to Westchester Medical Center's trauma and burn center, where his condition was critical.
