A western Pennsylvania school is closed after a gas leak led to a small fire.

Officials made the decision to close the Pine-Richland Middle School Thursday so they can evaluate the situation.

School officials say a gas regulator malfunctioned on Wednesday night and that caused a small fire in the school's kitchen. Firefighters quickly extinguished it.

All other schools in the district are open.
