SOMERSWORTH — The Somersworth Sports Hall of Fame will hold its next induction ceremony this fall. Nomination forms for anyone desiring to recommend athletes or contributors for induction into the Hall of Fame will be due by March 15.

Forms are available to print off the Somersworth High School website under Athletics. Hard Copies of the nomination form can be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office or Somersworth High School. Flynn Insurance claims OT victory

DOVER — Flynn Insurance needed overtime to edge River Bend Variety, 69-65, in the Dover Over-the-Hill Basketball League on Jan. 10.

Flynn was led by Rick Rudolph with 15 points followed by Doug Winter with 14 points. Jeff Francoeur had 23 points followed by Devin Lucas with 16 for River Bend.

Thompson’s Tavern pulled away from Horizon Travel in the fourth quarter to claim a 70-58 victory.

Thompson’s was led by Dave Hersey with 20 points followed by John Flynn with 14 points. Steve McCusker had 23 points and Doug Langdon added 17 points for Horizon Travel.

Bolton Company got their offense into gear after a slow start to roll over RCC Construction, 54-36, for its first win.

Dan Myers paced Bolton with 24 points. John Ganem had 15 points followed by Steve Ellis with 10 points for RCC Construction.

RSA Realty upends Leavitt

ROCHESTER — Matt Henderson scored twice to help RSA Realty upend league-leading Leavitt Electric, 5-4, in Rochester Men’s Hockey League action on Monday.

Kam Trepanier (two assists), Tim Ward (assist) and Peter Keilty also scored for RSA (7-5-2), while Steve stripto had 35 saves in goal.

For Leavitt (9-3-2), Chris Hitchcock had two goals and an assist, while Sean Hayden and Owen Allen also scored. Josh Terry added two assists. Tyler Briand stopped 25 shots.

Second-place Towle Pallet won its sixth straight game with a 5-3 win over Buffalo Wild Wings.

Chris Bolton had a hat trick for Towle (8-4-2), while Matt McGilvray added a goal and two assists and JT Fortier had a goal and an assist. Matt Negm chipped in with two assists. Eric Shields stopped 28 shots.

For BWW (4-7-3), Drew Pepin had a goal and two assists. Cam Pepin and Matt Keene each lit the lamp as well. Zach Aumand made 27 saves.

In the nightcap, DeNiro Development held off Zoeller Realty Group, 5-3.

DeNiro (5-6-3) led 3-1 after the first period and 5-3 after two stops. The winners were led by Josh Anderson with two goals and two assists, while Chris Atwood added two goals and an assist. Peter Clark also scored. Mike Sullivan made 23 saves in goal.

Spaulding seeks girls varsity soccer coach

ROCHESTER — Spaulding High School is seeking a girls varsity soccer coach. Candidates should have prior coaching experience, but it is not required.

Portsmouth Little League registration begins today

Portsmouth Little League is now registering players for the 2018 season, from today through Feb. 17, online at www.portsmouthlittleleague.com. Players born between May 1, 2005 and Aug. 31, 2011, who reside in Portsmouth, Greenland or Newington, are eligible to participate.

A registration fee of $100 per player [$50 for each additional player per family] must be paid via credit/debit card at the time of online registration. Registration fees are nonrefundable seven days following the close of registration. Full and partial scholarships are available by contacting Jeannie Currier at (603) 433-2283.

The registration fee rises $25 per player if registered after Feb. 25; no discounts or scholarships will be applied for late registration.

PORTSMOUTH — Online registration for Portsmouth Girls Softball Association’s 2018 season is now open at www.portsmouthgirlssoftball.org.

PGSA offers a safe and friendly atmosphere while instructing girls in the fundamentals of Fast Pitch Softball. Girls of all abilities from the Seacoast area towns of Greenland, New Castle, Newington and Portsmouth between the ages of 5 and 16 are welcome.

All new and returning athletes must attend assessments on Jan. 27 at the Connie Bean Center located at the Portsmouth Middle School. Assessment times are as follows: U6/U8 — 4 to 4:30 p.m.; U10 — 4:30 to 5:15 p.m.; U12 and U14 — 5:15 to 6 p.m.

All players must register online prior to assessments. A registration fee of $150 per player can be paid via credit card online or via check on Jan. 27. New players must bring a copy of their birth certificate to assessments, and all players should come dressed to play and have a water bottle, sneakers and glove.

Snowshoe race in Wolfeboro Saturday

WOLFEBORO — The 4th annual Moose Mountains RunAround snowshoe race is scheduled for Saturday morning at Abenaki Ski Area, 390 Pine Hill Road, Wolfeboro. The race will start at 9 a.m. and covers a loop course of approximately four miles with moderate elevation change, traversing a combination of open fields, ski trails and single track. Snowshoe walkers are also welcome to register and participate and the public is encouraged to come cheer on the racers.

Race competitors’ snowshoes must adhere to USSSA minimum size specifications of 120 square inches. Rental Dion snowshoes will be available for $5 per pair but must be reserved in advance by contacting Race Director Dan Coons at 603-520-8533 or trailrnr@yahoo.com. The snowshoe race registration fee is $20 in advance or $25 on race day. Register in advance at www.mmrg.info/moose-mountains-runaround/. Awards will be presented to the top two finishers in each age group as well as to the overall male and female winners. Amenities include the heated ski lodge and complimentary post-race food.

A new Kids Snowshoe Shuffle will start immediately after the snowshoe race finishes, around 10 a.m. In this non-competitive fun activity for children ages 12 and under, kids will make their way around an obstacle course on snowshoes. A limited number of loaner snowshoes sized for kids will be available. There is a $5 suggested donation for the kids’ activity.

These events are fundraisers for Moose Mountains Regional Greenways (MMRG). Volunteers are needed to help with registration, timing the race, directing racers along the course, serving refreshments and the Kids Snowshoe Shuffle.
