The Birmingham Homemakers met a week later due to bad weather but the hostesses, Judy Howald and Gail Workman, decorated with beads and party hats to help celebrate the New Year. Seven members were present.
President Debbie Larrick opened the meeting by reading "Do You Like Getting Older?" The Pledge of Allegiance and the Homemakers’ Creed were recited. Joan Albaugh led devotions with "Right Place, Right Time." It’s not as much what you’ve lost as what you still have. She also read "A Light in the Night" about a daughter who worries a little less knowing someone else cares about her dad as much as she does. Sunshine cards were signed and sent.
Gail Workman reported for Health and Safety about killing "fat traps" with chili powder. Steady your sugar with a half cup of broccoli or kale a day. If you’re having trouble sleeping after a jam-packed day, make a list.
Plans were made for Achievement Day April 19 at Clear Fork Church with registration at 10 a.m. Ideas for lessons, money making projects, and a trip were discussed. Delicious vegetable soup and a covered dish lunch were enjoyed by all.
The next meeting will be Feb. 7. Helen Montgomery and Debbie Larrick will be hostesses. Shirley Hutzel will have devotions. Debby Shugart will have roll call. Joan Albaugh will attend and teach the lesson at the County Council meeting.
Items were sorted to deliver to several people in nursing homes and to send as Bingo prizes for Countryview.
