CUTTACK: The Justice MM Das Commission, probing into the multi-crore chit fund scam in the state, on Thursday submitted its fourth interim report to the state government in a sealed cover.

Sources said the commission has identified a total of 55,563 small depositors (those who deposited less than Rs 10,000 in Ponzi firms) in the fourth phase after examining 1,38,388 affidavits from investors. The 55,563 investors had invested money in 342 companies.

Sources said the commission has recommended the state government to ensure refund of money to these small investors on a priority basis. Earlier in July last year, the commission had submitted its third interim report in which it had identified 41,519 small investors.

So far, the commission has examined over 3 lakh affidavits out of the 8.7 lakh affidavits filed before it by the duped investors.
