The special cleanliness drive would be launched both in the urban and gram panchayat areas in the district from January 17 to January 31 as a part of Republic Day celebration.
The drive was kicked off at Vikas Bhawan premises in Puari by the district magistrate Sushil Kumar on Wednesday. DM sounded angry over the premises being littered with garbage and food leftovers. He slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on every department whose offices are located in the Vikas Bhawan premises.
The cleanness drive which was launched by the Swajal department saw the DM sweeping clean some parts of the building with a broom. He collected the litter and deposited it in its designated place. Seeing the DM in the lead, officers and employees of different departments joined hands to clean the premises.
The nodal assistant project director Sunil Kumar said that the district Panchayati Raj officer would conduct the cleanliness drive in the tehsils while the officers and the employees would do the same in their respective departments.
The drive would be launched in all offices on Jan 18 while in the office premises of the commissioner the same would be done on Jan 19. Those who participated in the drive on Wednesday were the district development officer Ved Prakash, chief horticulture officer Narendra Kumar and in-charge Swajal manager Vijay Kumar Gairola.
