Thane to hold Cartoon Enclave for the first time

Thane: ‘Making cartoons means very hard work at every step of the way, but creating a cartoon character is the hardest work of all,’ Joseph Barbara, the famous American cartoonist had said.
Unfortunately today, there are very few surviving cartoonists but political cartoonists have just vanished. To create an awareness and to involve more people into this vanishing art, an organisation is aiming towards creating new talents in the forever funny art. An organisation formed by the Marathi cartoonists has been organising workshops in schools and colleges to let them introduce to the art of cartooning.
The next step is a Conference that will be held on 20th and 21st January in Thane. The first ever conference in city will see the famous cartoons on display and also will get a chance to meet the cartoonists who will make their cartoons within few minutes. Everybody is aware of the power of famous political cartoonists such as R K Lakshman, Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray and MNS leader Raj Thackeray.
The cartoons which were made by Balasaheb Thackeray and R KLaxman were always apt with the time and fresh forever sending one with powerful messages through it. Therefore, people will get a chance to see the rarest cartoons by these famous artists. To celebrate the centenary of late leader and cartoonist Balasaheb Thackeray, this meet ‘Hasydarshan 2018’ will be inaugpresident Uddhav Thackeray on Jan 2018.
The most interesting events in these two-day conclave will definitely be to get your own caricature done and to witness the rarest cartoons of the late Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. “We will be displaying here the unseen cartoons of Balasaheb Thackeray. As all are aware he was the world famous cartoonist. His work during 1952 to 1958 will be displayed here.,” said cartoonist Vivek Mehetre.
