Doctors have advised Narayanganj Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy to take rest after she fell ill suddenly amid countrywide discussions over clashes between her supporters and those of AKM Shamim Osman MP.
Ivy was brought to Dhaka and admitted to the Labaid Hospital on Thursday evening.
“She is out of danger now, but needs rest. The doctors also said taking rest is the most important thing for her now,” Narayanganj City Corporation CEO AFM Ehteshamul Hoque told bdnews24.com.
He also said the doctors found no problem in Ivy’s electrocardiogram or ECG report.
“The doctors are waiting for the CT scan report now. They have kept her under observation and are not drawing any conclusion before getting all the reports,” Ehteshamul said.
Labaid spokesperson Saifur Rahman Lenin said cardiologist Baren Chakraborty was supervising the treatment of Ivy at the hospital’s cardiac care unit or CCU.
The hospital has also formed a board of five doctors to oversee her treatment, Saifur added.
Ivy fell ill around 4pm while speaking to journalists at the Nagar Bhaban, said the mayor’s aide Abul Hossain. An ambulance transported her to Dhaka.
“She wasn’t able to speak. At one point, she started throwing up. The in-house medical officer examined her and gave her saline.”
“Her blood pressure dropped. She was sent to Dhaka’s Labaid Hospital by ambulance,” Abul said.
Ivy, who holds an MBBS degree, said she suffered injuries in an attack by Shamim’s supporters during the clashes over the eviction of hawkers on Tuesday.
