HAMILTON – Dan Paddock, of Hamilton, passed away at the Home Sweet Home nursing care facility in Eureka, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018.

He was born in Butte, May 7, 1934, to Dan and Elizabeth Paddock and lived in Dillon until 1946 when the family moved to Hamilton. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1952. Dan went to Butte and was hired by H.L. Green as a trainee in retailing. That was the beginning of a long career in retail management; first working for other companies and eventually buying and managing a liquor store, Baskin Robbins stores, a hardware store and a trailer park.

He married Jean Swanson, his high school sweetheart, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton on Feb. 28, 1953.

Dan and Jean retired back to the Bitterroot in 1993. He busied himself by volunteering for both Meals on Wheels and delivering medical equipment for Hospice.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Elizabeth Paddock; and sister Dolly. He is survived by his wife Jean; daughter, Debra and husband Gayle Phillips; son, Henry Randal and wife Julie; and grandchildren, Christine, Rachel and Tim.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, from 9:30 until 11 a.m., at the Daly-Leach Chapel, with funeral services follow at 11 a.m. There will be a reception following the services in the funeral home’s community room. Private interment will take place at Grantsdale Cemetery.
