Mumbai: BMC corporators demand FIR against contractor for crane falling negligence in which 3 died

Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced in the standing committee on Wednesday that a show-cause notice has been issued against the contractor ‘Michigan trenching service’ for crane falling negligence which killed three labourers and left two injured seriously on January 1, 2018.

The reply has come after Manoj Kotak, the member of the standing committee and the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) corporator raised an objection earlier on why no First Information Report(FIR) has been filed against the contractor and only action against the crane operator been taken.

Councillors of all parties in the Standing Committee on Wednesday slammed the civic corporation for shielding a contractor named ‘Michigan trenching services’ for negligence occurred. The issue has been raised once again as BMC tabled a proposal in the standing committee on Wednesday for the appointment of the same contractor Michigan for carrying out the trench digging work. Ravi Raja, Leader Of Opposition (LOP) of BMC pointed out if the civic corporation has issued a show-cause notice to the contractor how a proposal can be tabled for his appointment.
