The billionaire businessman moved to Home Farm taking the place of the White family, after Chrissie and Lawrence were killed in a fatal car crash.

When Joe (played by Ned Porteous) moved into the large property, he began to reminisce about his childhood and looked into rooms where his father Chris Tate (Peter Amory) committed suicide and where his grandfather was murdered. 

But as he wandered through the empty rooms recalling moments from his childhood, viewers were quick to point out that Home Farm was not the place he had grown up. 

The house was blown up when Joe left the village with his aunt Zoe (Leah Bracknell) in 2005 and has been extensively remodelled.

Taking to Twitter to comment on the detail, one viewer noted: “Home Farm’s been rebuilt since your Dad died Joe @emmerdale.”

While another added: “Home farm's been changed that much even I don't recognise it.. #Emmerdale.”

“Didn't the old Home Farm burn down to the ground,” a third shared. 

While Joe may be pleased to be back in Home Farm, he shouldn’t get too comfortable as upcoming scenes will see his former flame Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) douse the property in petrol.

She later reveals she has rigged the building to blow it up - will he have to rebuild his family home once more?

Meanwhile, soap star Ned has opened up about leaving the ITV soap. 

Chatting to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain earlier this week, he assured fans he was going nowhere. 

Susanna probed: “Does it feel like Hollywood is just a stone’s throw away?”

“I have no intentions of leaving for Hollywood anytime soon…” Ned cheekily replied. 

The pair also asked how he was dealing with his new found fame as a “heart throb”. 

“I wear a hat and sunglasses and never leave the house,” the actor joked.
