Private operators hinder free ambulance at RIMS

Private ambulance operators have started creating nuisance at RIMS after a private institution started free service for the poor. Although police has tried to resolve the matter, lack of government ambulances at the State’s premier institute is making patients suffer.

“Acting on the complaint lodged by ‘Zingdagi Milegi Dobara Foundation’ the private ambulance operators have been warned that action will be taken against them if they again tried to disturb the drivers of free ambulance service again,” said Officer in Charge of Bariatu Police Station Pramod Keshri.

The matter has been sorted out as of now, and the matter will be dealt with strictly if any complaint is lodged in this regard, he added.

Chairman of ‘Zingdagi Milegi Dobara Foundation’ Ashwini Rajgarhia had filed a complaint with Bariatu Police that the private operators and the middlemen have been trying to derail the free service by taking money from the patients against the service provided by us.

“And when the drivers of free Ambulance service opposed it, they misbehaved with them and threatened them of dire consequences,” said Rajgarhia.

The matter has been calmed down with the intervention of police, he added.

Interestingly, despite the fact that there are around 13-14 ambulances owned by RIMS, but due to non-availability and complicated process to get ambulance available for a patient, people admitted to the State’s largest hospital have to rely completely on the private ambulances. The Free Emergency Ambulance service was launched by the Foundation from November 5 since then benefitting over 350 people through the four ambulances placed at RIMS. The Foundation targets to provide free services to over 1500 poor or needy people this year.
