Viacom has rebranded its US pay-TV channel Spike TV as the Paramount Network. The new name also comes with a broader lineup of programming.
The network will officially launch the evening of 18 January with a live, one-hour Michael Jackson-themed Lip Sync Battle, the most popular show from Spike. Two other shows—Ink Master and Bar Rescue—will also be staying on the channel, along with Bellator MMA fighting.
In addition, new and original programming is coming to Paramount Network, such as the six-part miniseries Waco, starting later this month, and a new drama starring Kevin Costner caller Yellowstone. Paramount will also show a new series based on the 1988 film Heathers and a show called American Woman, starring Alicia Silverstone and Mena Suvariset and set amid the sexual revolution and rise of feminism in the 1970s.
