Decoration work scheduled to end in a week’s time

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started installation of decoration work at the Moti Bagh metro station on the upcoming Shiv Vihar-Majlis Park (Pink Line) section, with traditional jali (mesh), and art installations on the station façade and metro pillars.

The DMRC said in statement on Wednesday said the abstract artwork is being installed on the façade of the station facing Ring Road and an adjacent flyover. “The artworks convey the message of greenery and preservation of environment. A specialised team of artists has been roped in, to execute the work,” the statement read.

Piers at the station are being decorated with backlit mesh work, which “will also have night glow vinyl for better aesthetic look and visibility during the night”.

The decoration work is scheduled to end in a week’s time. Children from a nearby girls’ school are also contributing to the exercise by decorating a number of metro corridors near the station, it said. “The themes, which will be covered in these artworks, include reverence for life, reverence for the spirit of education, love for nature, character building, spiritual unfolding, love for Indian ideals and living for others,” the statement added.

Stations on the recently inaugurated Botanical Garden-Kalindi Kunj section of the Magenta Line (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden) are adorned with artworks depicting “India’s rich culture and heritage”, the public transporter said.
