Yogi breaks another jinx, spends a night in Agra Circuit house

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has broken another jinx – this time he spent a night at Agra Circuit House as his predecessors believed that staying in circuit house might cost them their seat.

“Yes, it is true that Chief Minister stayed for a night at Agra circuit house. No one talked about the jinx and he even did not enquire about it,” a senior official told The Pioneer. “Moreover, he does not believe in any jinx or superstition,” he said.

Earlier, Chief Minister went to Noida – not once but thrice – also considered a jinxed city for Chief Minister. No CM had ever dared to go to Noida. The superstition is so deeply entrenched in the psyche of leaders that even former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had commented that Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Prime Minister are set to lose their seats because both of them have visited Noida.

Taking that jinx seriously no CM has even gone to Noida for last 29 years.

The official said that no CM had ever stayed in the circuit house of Agra for last 16 years. The last chief minister of Uttar Pradesh who stayed for a night in Agra circuit house was Rajnath Singh, who is now union Home Minister in Modi cabinet.

Incidentally, he lost his chair after the visit and none of his successors have dared to stay at the government accommodation since then.

Former CMs Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati did not spend a night in Agra as they preferred to go to Delhi or return to Lucknow the same day while Akhilesh Yadav preferred to stay in Five Star Hotels during his Agra visits.

Officials say the Yogi Adityanath stayed in the Room Number 1 of the Circuit House in Agra which is the most spacious room in the government accommodation. Spread over in the area of 76 yards this room has an ante room, dressing room and a drawing room besides a big bed room.

“There was no special menu as the cook was asked to prepare a simple food,” the official said.

Adityanath went to Agra to receive the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sarah as they visited Taj Mahal on Tuesday.
