CRPF seizes huge arms and ammunition in Peterwar

In a special operation against Naxalites, personnel of the 26th battalion of Central Reserve police Forces (CRPF) and local police seized a huge cache of arms at Chargi Forest area in Peterwar block in Maoist –hit Bokaro district, on Tuesday, said ASP, Sanjay Kumar.

Acting on a tip off, a CRPF team headed by ASP Sanjay Kumar launched an operation in Chargi forest in Peterwar block. During the operation the team detected an artificial tunnel near Chargi forest in Peterwar which the rebels used for strong arms and ammunition.

Bokaro superintendent of police Kartik S. said two country made pistols, 45 cartridges, 318 piece of electronic detonators, three magazines, one rifle of 315 bore, huge cartridges of SLR and others explosives were recovered from the artificial tunnel. The arms were stored by the members of Santosh Mahto in the forest to carry out an attack by the Maoists on the security forces. Though some members of Santosh Mahto of the banned outfit were present in the forest they preferred to disperse from the spot after leaving behind their weapons, The area is close to the border of Gomia block, also Maoists hit block of the district.

The ASP Sanjay Kumar alongwith assistant commandant Sandip Kumar Handi, officer-in charge of Peterwar police station Aashutosh Kumar informed that security forces foiled an attempt by the rebels to cause harm to the paramilitary force.
