The Sensex scaled the peak of 35,000 points for the first time on Tuesday.
What makes this milestone stand out is that it just took 16 trading sessions for Sensex to journey to 35,000 from 34,000 points.
It was one of the fastest 1,000-point rally charted by the Sensex in recent years. Prior to this, the fastest move by Sensex in recent years to surge 1,000 points was in May 2014 when the Sensex rose to 25,000 from 24,000 in just three sessions.

The government's announcement on Wednesday to cut additional borrowing requirement to Rs 20,000 crore proved to be the catalyst for the market.
Strength in the global markets in recent days has also helped the Sensex cross the milestone of 35,000 in a short time.
