The music lovers of the city were mesmerised to watch the sitar recital by noted sitarist Lovely Sharma. Sharma performed at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum here on Wednesday leaving the audience enthralled with her performance.
The sitarist performed with the lot of enthusiasm live on stage. She performed under the programme ‘Sitar Vadan’ organized by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Bhopal under its horizon series of classical performances.
She then struck the sitar strings in Vilambit Ek Taal playing the Bada Khayal. Keeping in mind the season of winter, she played the classical raga in chhota khayal.The energetic performances given by Lovely Sharma enthralled the audiences. The listeners witnessed a pleasant world of Hindustani Classical music at Madhya Pradesh State Tribal Museum Auditorium. The audiences were appreciating the performances with huge round of applauses as they gave delightful performances.Lovely Sharma is the Vice Chancellor of Raja Mansingh Tomar Arts and Music Academy Gwalior. Lovely Sharma has been teaching Indian Classical Music on Sitar as practical course and Shruti Swar Vibhajan and Raga Analysis at UG and PG level. Her areas of research interest are Music Therapy, Musicology, Music Education, Gharanas of Music and Folk Music. She has 26 research publications and 7 books in her credit. She is a musicologist and music therapist of international repute and has been trained under Maihar Parampara of Sitar.
