A daily wage labourer allegedly killed his wife before consuming poison near the Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple in Nelakondapalli town late on Tuesday evening. He is said to be critical.
Sources said M Gangadhar (25), a resident of Guvvalagudem, strangulated Naveena (20) to death with her dupatta following a tiff over a prolonged family dispute at a secluded spot near the temple. Soon after, he consumed pesticide and collapsed on the roadside, added sources. The couple has two sons.
Passersby shifted him to the District Headquarters Hospital and alerted the police.
