Police are investigating whether it is a murder or suicide. The deceased, Sulekha Banu, wife of Habid Mohamad, was running a shop on the ground floorof their house at Moongileri in Pamma. On Wednesday morning, Habid broke open the door as his wife failed to respond to knocks and found her dead with her throat slit, and a kitchen knife was found near her body.
Murder case suspect Sathya arrested
Four days after an auto driver Muniyan (24) was hacked to death in full public view at Ice House, police arrested the main suspect, Sathya, alias Bombay Sathya, on Wednesday. Police chased Sathya in Krishnampet as he tried to flee the area. In the chase that ensued, Sathya broke his leg while trying to jump over a compound wall and was arrested. Sathya is named the main accused by police in the murder of Muniyan.
Rider killed as trio on bike hits pedestrian
A 22-year-old man died and three others sustained injuries after a bike hit a pedestrian in Neelankarai late on Tuesday night. The deceased rider, M Prakash, an AC technician from Vettuvankani, died on spot suffering severe injuries. None of them was wearing helmet. While passing by Sri Dharmasastha temple on ECR in Neelankarai, their bike hit a pedestrian, D Praveenkumar (29), who was trying to
cross the road.
