SLT opens Tier 3 National Data Centre, invests LKR 2.4 billion

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), in partnership with the Ministry of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure (T&DI), has launched its Tier 3 (Tier III) Data Centre in Pitipana - Homagama. The national data centre is expected to enhance the provision of a data hosting facility and cloud computing services in Sri Lanka. The facility has been awarded the Uptime Tier III design certification by the Uptime Institute. SLT reports it has invested over LKR 2.4 billion in this project. 

The new data Centre of SLT will have a capacity of 500 racks. Customers will be able to hire racks as needed. SLT says it will provide expert knowledge and bear all costs associated with space, protection, disaster management etc.
