
Mohonasen boys hold on, beat Columbia
Mighty Warriors withstand Adams' 29 points for Blue Devils

Jalani Abdul-Aziz had 22 points, including three 3-pointers, as Mohonasen held on for a 60-58 Suburban Council victory on its home court against Columbia on Tuesday night in Rotterdam.
Mohonasen built a nine-point lead by halftime (35-26) and had just enough to never trail at the end of the final two quarters.
Timothy Febbie added 11 points on a night in which the Mighty Warriors connected on five shots from behind the arc and also drained eight of their 13 free throws.
Alex Adams had 29 points in the defeat, including five of the Blue Devils' nine 3-pointers.
Dylan Ouimette had the other four 3-pointers to account for his 12 points.
More boys' basketball: Schalmont rallied in the fourth quarter with half of its 20 points being scored by Nick Boyd, who finished with 12 in the 65-63 victory against Watervliet. Shane O'Dell led all scorers with 25 points and Jesse O'Dell added 15. Joey Atkins had 25 for Watervliet in the Cannoneers' defeat.
Girls' basketball: Rebekkah Dean scored seven of her game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter as Mekeel Christian held off Fonda, 46-43. Liz Singleton sank three 3-pointers in the first quarter to stake the Lions to a 16-11 lead. Singleton finished with 17 points. Abby Lombardoni led Fonda with 19 points. ... Lauren Obermayer had 19 points and Alysia Roldan chipped in 18 for a 72-54 Suburban Council victory against Mohonasen. The pair connected on all nine of its combined free throws. Breanna Lott had 38 points in the loss, including five 3-pointers. ... Autumn Anderson scored all 13 of her points in the second half as Lansingburgh pulled away with a big second half to beat Albany Academy 57-38 in a Colonial Council game. Madison Teta led the Knights with 14 points. Lansingburgh outscored the Bears 34-18 in the second half. Meleena Ottati led Albany Academy with 14 points.
Boys' swimming and diving: Niskayuna's 400-yard freestyle relay of Bryan Liu, Mark Lipkin, Scott Ward and Neil Horne won the last event of the meet to propel the Silver Warriors to a 94-92 win over Bethlehem. Matthew Chao won the 1-meter diving event to give Niskayuna a 40-38 lead midway through the meet. The Eagles tied the meet at 86 when David Berin, Allen Zhou and Colin Leonard finished 2-3-4 in the 100 breaststroke, but Niskayuna was too strong in the 400 freestyle relay.
