With temperatures expected to drop into the upper 20s with even colder windchills tonight, Citrus Connection will provide transportation options for those who will be seeking refuge from the frigid temperatures at the shelters in Lakeland.
Citrus Connection is providing free transportation on the final runs of the day on Route 22XL from Bartow to the Lakeland Terminal (leaving Polk County Courthouse at 5:12 p.m.), Route 12 from the Winter Haven Terminal to the Lakeland Terminal (leaving Winter Haven at 6:15 p.m.) and Route 47 from Duff Road to the Salvation Army of West Polk in Lakeland (departing Northside Village at 6:38 p.m.).
A single one-way pass is provided as well to assist those with a return trip aboard the buses.
The Talbot House at 814 N Kentucky Ave. and Lighthouse Ministries at 215 E Magnolia St. in Lakeland are accepting those who need to shelter themselves from the arctic blast of winter weather. The Salvation Army of West Polk is preparing to assist as well.
