Soon after the meeting, North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convener Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed a press meet. He said, "Another round of meeting will he held tomorrow at Guwahati following which a joint statement on poll alliance will be signed between the BJP and IPFT."
He added: "BJP wants to address socio-economic, cultural and liguistic problems of the tribal population in the state."
IPFT president NC Debbarman said, "The dialogue took place in a fair situation and we hope for a positive outcome."
Responding to a question on the allocation of seats for the upcoming assembly elections, Sarma said, "Firstly, we want to clear the ideological issues between us and then we will discuss about seat sharing."
Sarma further added: "Talks are on with other regional parties, however, allocation of seats for every party is not possible."
Earlier, on January 5, IPFT leaders met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with several other BJP leaders. The centre then promised to form a committee to examine the socio-economic and cultural situation of the tribals in the state.
