Gulf Freeway shut down for fatal crash in Houston
Houston police are investigating a fatal crash on the Gulf Freeway at Dixie Farm Road.
The crash was reported around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday night in the northbound lanes. Police have been on the scene since then investigating the crash and confirmed on Twitter that it's fatal.
The northbound main lanes were closed as of 9 p.m., according to Houston Transtar.
Interstate 45 has been plagued Tuesday as a severe ice storm blew through Southeast Texas, although most of the highway's problems are north of downtown. Houston Transtar shows only two locations on the Gulf Freeway with ice: the northbound exit ramp to Beltway 8 and the left and center northbound lanes just south of Loop 610 South.
