The official plot synopsis for Solo: A Star Wars Story has been revealed, re-confirming the film is planned for a May release.

The news was announced in a blog post on the official Star Wars website, offering small details about the plot of the forthcoming movie.

Directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, the movie is set prior to the events of the original trilogy and will follow a young Han Solo in his formative years. The official description reads:

"Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes"
The synopsis highlights his encounter with a young, gambling Lando Calrissian, a role played by Donald Glover of Atlanta fame.

Christian Bale revealed he was in talks to appear in an undisclosed role in Solo, and hopes there will be "future discussions" about his place in Star Wars.

Star Wars veteran John Williams will write a theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story, with John Powell composing the movie's score.

Solo is still set for a May 25 release date, making it the first Star Wars film since Disney took over the franchise that would release in a non-December window.
