A man arrested after fatally stabbing another man during an argument Monday on the South Side told police he stabbed him in self-defense.

Ernest Albert Flores Jr., 62, has been charged with murder in the death of a man in his mid-20s, according to the San Antonio Police Department. His bail is set at $125,000.

The victim has not yet been identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The two were arguing in an apartment at about 8:25 p.m. in the 1000 block of Gillette Boulevard when Flores pulled out a sharp object and stabbed the man twice in the chest, according to preliminary information from a police report.

Police noted that Flores and the victim had been arguing all day. Flores was arrested shortly after police interviewed him and witnesses.
