The police team probing the Aluva burglary case has collected a fingerprint, purportedly of one of the thieves who had broken into the house.

According to officials, the fingerprint was recovered from the vault in which gold ornaments were kept. “The culprits seem to have used gloves to prevent any fingerprints being deposited on the surface. Indeed, they have left little trace of evidence at the crime scene, which points to the involvement of a professional robbery gang,” they said.

Besides interrogating a few migrant labourers residing in the region, the police are also looking into the possible involvement local elements in the theft. As part of it, they are collecting information regarding the persons who recently completed their jail terms in various theft cases.

K.B. Prafulla Chandran, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Aluva, said a 12-member police team had been constituted to conduct the probe.
