Even though the Minnesota Vikings haven't made it to The Super Bowl just yet, they can claim one victory.
With this weekend's win, the Vikings are the closest a team has ever come to playing the big game in their own stadium.
Even though Chad Greenway is no longer putting on the pads, the former Vikings linebacker is still in many ways part of the team. This weekend, the Mount Vernon native was even the honorary captain.
"Obviously with the Vikings still in the playoffs and really having a good chance to make it, it's really made everyone crazy," Greenway said.
Greenway says he's a little biased, but he thinks a historic Super Bowl win isn't super exaggerated.
"I really do like our chances. Even if you look at the actual match-ups, football-wise and who we see," Greenway said.
That, of course, requires a win against the Eagles this weekend, followed by a Super Bowl matchup with either the Patriots or the Jaguars.
"For us to be the first team to potentially play in your home stadium, it's just an incredible story," Greenway said.
A story that involves more than just football players for Greenway, but friends.
"They're teammates I've played with for upwards of a decade in Brian Robison's case," Greenway said.
Greenway will also be more than just a fan at the Super Bowl.
We'll tell you about his role in the big game on Eye on KELOLAND at 10 p.m.
