Who Wants to Be a Millionaire isn't going anywere.
The long-running game show has been renewed for a 17th season on ABC-owned stations. Also ordered is another season of viral video show RightThisMinute. The renewals will keep the pair of reality series on the air through 2019.
Millionaire, currently in its 16th season in national syndication, is hosted by The Bachelor's Chris Harrison. The series, produced by Valleycrest Productions, continues to be the only game show that offers a $1 million prize to each and every contestant. Since the program debuted in syndication in 2002, contestants have won more than $95 million. James Rowley serves as an executive producer.
RightThisMinute showcases viral videos and the stories behind them. Each day, the show’s team scours the internet to bring popular online videos to broadcast TV. The 2018-19 season will mark its eighth year on the air and sixth in national syndication. Produced by MagicDust Television, RightThisMinute is hosted by Gayle Bass, Charity Bailey, Christian Vera, Oli Pettigrew and Nick Calderone.
According to ABC, both shows are posting year-to-year household ratings gains and are among only four out of more than 30 nationally syndicated first-run strips that have generated ratings increases this year.
