Elections likely in six months, be prepared: CM Devendra Fadnavis tells BJP party workers

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ensure the backward class do not get wrong message about the party and it’s activities. While addressing party functionaries at Vasant Smruti, party office at Dadar on Tuesday, Fadnavis also appealed them to be prepared for election in the next six months.

The meeting of of party officials and elected representatives including ministers held in which the review of post Bhima-Koregaon riot situation was discussed. According to party functionary, the meeting discussed the strategy of the party, challenges before the party. “The relations with Shiv Sena was not discussed in a meeting,” he said.

Party source said, the chief minister appealed party leaders not to speak against Dalit community. Leaders should be alert while speaking against them at any programme or in discussions. Dalit should be taken care of by us. Fadanvis revealed the link of left-wing extremists behind  the Bhima-Koergaon riot and said it was part of strategy of Maoists to disturb the harmony and unity of the society and to create the law and order situation in the state.

Some leaders suggested to bring some schemes for Dalits. Referring this demand, Fadnavis informed party officials that the state government is working on the same line. The source claimed the state government would bring some policy for Dalits offering various schemes and financial assist to ensure they can be empowered. The scheme would announce within next six months, he claimed.

The CM also appealed to party workers to be prepared for polls, which is expected to be announced in October-November this year. He gave a hint that parliamentary elections may be brough forward by six months before its term ends in May 2019. However, a BJP officebearer said that the Lok Sabha polls may be preponed but not the state assembly.  “Term of Maharashtra state assembly will over in October 2019. Hence, it is not possible to dissolve the assembly a year before it will complete its term,” said the official.

Raosaheb Danve, state president of BJP, in his speech focused on strengthening of booths. “I have taken responsibility of a booth. Even, Fadnavis has taken responsibility and hence, each and every party official and leader should take responsibility of at least one booth,” Danve appealed. He said ten karyakartas  (party worker) for one booth is the perfect idea and party has achieved the target to appoint ten workers. He said, “This is not enough. You have to focus on each page of voters list and has to take responsibility of voters on each page.”

Meanwhile, after meeting which went for more than five hours, party workers were seen busy in understanding the meaning of ‘be prepared for election after six months.’ One senior leader said, “MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan are the crucial state for BJP where assembly polls are due in 2018 December, general elections could be hold simultaneously.” These are speculations only, he added.
