Gov. Pete Ricketts has appointed Cass County Attorney Nathan Cox to replace District Court Judge William B. Zastera in Nebraska's 2nd Judicial District.
Zastera retired in Oct. 1 after more than 26 years of service on the county and district court benches in Papillion.
As county attorney, Cox, 53, has directed the prosecution of more than 3,000 cases a year in county and district court. He also previously served as a deputy county attorney for Adams County.
Cox received his law degree from Creighton University.
The 2nd Judicial District consists of Cass, Otoe and Sarpy counties.
