Brownsville names Lopez interim city manager By Nadia Tamez-Robledo Staff Writer Brownsville Herald

The Brownsville City Commission voted Tuesday to appoint Michael L. Lopez as interim city manager, ending a three-month vacancy in the office.

Lopez currently serves as assistant city manager. He was hired as city secretary in March 2015 and promoted to director of the Planning and Development Services Department in April 2016.

“I am honored to further the City of Brownsville’s mission to provide efficient and quality municipal services to our community,” Lopez said in a news release. “I am committed to continue the great work that is currently underway and focus efforts on community needs.”

Lopez fills the vacancy left by former City Manager Charlie Cabler, who retired from the position in October.
