Snow is expected to fall between Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon in the Lower Hudson Valley. Wochit
Commuters should heed caution Wednesday: Snow is expected through the morning after a night of rainy-snow mix.
The commute "could be a bit icy and slippery with the snow and even with the rain as well," said Jordan Root, an AccuWeather meteorologist. "People that are heading out for the morning commute, whether it's by vehicle or just walking, certainly can expect some slippery conditions."
Root said there probably would be rain mixing with snow starting around midnight into Wednesday.
But he expected snow in the morning that could last until noon or 1 p.m.
"So I think that's when we're going to see our greatest accumulation," he said.

Accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are likely in the lower and central parts of Westchester and Rockland counties, he said, with 4 or 5 inches possible in the northern reaches.
Accumulations could be higher in Putnam County — a National Weather Service winter storm warning said 4 to 7 inches is possible in more upstate areas including Putnam.
After the snow ceases mid-day or so Wednesday, Root said things should dry out through the rest of the week.
A low of 29 degrees was forecast for Tuesday night, and Wednesday will be chilly but still reach 35 degrees — well above the bone-chilling lows of recent weeks.
However, Root said Wednesday night could bring a low of 17 degrees. So Thursday morning there "could be some icy spots out there — people will want to use some extra caution when they're going out."
