BLUE EARTH — This time, it wasn’t 145 points, but nonetheless the Worthington Trojans gymnastics team continued their dominant season Tuesday night, defeating Blue Earth Area 141.25 to 118.5.

WHS was led by Kara Thuringer, who secured the all-around victory (35.65 points), first on the balance beam (8.95), second on the floor (9.175), second on the bars (8.55) and third on the vault (8.975).

The only reason, it seems, she didn’t get first in every category is her teammates were too good.

Abby Bristow took the floor (9.3), Maria Contreras handily won on the vault (9.45) while Mekyla Nystrom took second (9.125) and Gracia Elias won on the bars (8.8).

“They were wonderful, we had a good meet,” said coach Joni Reitmeier, who added the team still had some things to work on before their Saturday matchup with Jackson County Central.

Elias placed second in the all-around (34.95) and Blue Earth’s Melissa Hagedorn placed third (30.85).

WHS gymnasts placed top three in every individual category. Elias finished second on the balance beam (8.825) and Adamari Rangel was third (8.775). Contreras tied with Thuringer for second on the bars (8.55) and Autumn Drahota placed third (8.325).

The JV team put up 132.95 points, compared to Blue Earth’s 86.7. The JV Trojan team was led by Claire Ludes, who won the all-around performance with a whopping 32.25 points.

“We have a very deep team,” Reitmeier said. “I have very talented gymnasts and I’m fortunate to work with them.”
