Realtor.com has named the Pine Bluff metropolitan area the sixth most affordable housing market in the US. The site looked at the country’s 500 largest metros and identified the 10 with the lowest median home prices. They limited the final results to no more than one per state, according to a news release.
The site says that the median home price in the Pine Bluff area is $94,000, with a median home value of $25,000. The site says Little Rock‘s median home price is $170,000. Realtor.com notes that while Pine Bluff has “small-city home values, it can also boast some big-city features. The largest airport in Arkansas, the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport, is a 40-minute drive from downtown.”
The site also notes that Pine Bluff “has the highest crime rate on our list.”
However, statistics from the Pine Bluff Police Department show that overall crime has been in a steady decline over the last several years. Realtor.com named Marion, Indiana, as the most affordable city in the US when it comes to home prices. The median price for a house there is just over $66,000, according to the site.
Danville, Illinois, came in second; Pottsville, Pennsylvania, third; Bay City, Michigan, fourth; Weirton, West Virginia, fifth; Lima, Ohio, seventh; Elmira, New York, eighth; Topeka, Kansas, ninth; Cumberland, Maryland, 10th.
