Kiri's Sarah Lancashire starred in Where The Heart Is - do YOU remember her other roles?
SARAH LANCASHIRE is currently taking the country by storm in new show Kiri, but what other programmes has she starred in? From Coronation Street to Where The Heart Is - the actress has been in them all!
In the Channel 4 drama, the 53-year-old stars as dedicated social worker Miriam Grayson.
Her character has devoted her life to the children in her care to make sure they are looked after.
However, in episode one, Miriam soon has all eyes on her after nine-year-old Kiri Akindele (played by Felicia Mukasa) goes missing following an unsupervised visit with her biological grandparents.
As fans remain gripped by the new show, we take a look at Sarah’s previous roles.
Coronation Street
The actress was first catapulted into limelight when she starred in Coronation Street as Raquel Wolstenhulme.
She made her debut on the cobbles in 1991 and won over viewers with her portrayal of the ditsy but loveable barmaid.
The fan-favourite married Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy) and the pair starred in spin-off show Coronation Street - The Cruise which focused on their honeymoon.
Raquel became one of the soap’s most popular ever characters and after Sarah quit in 1996, she made a special appearance in 2000 where she broke up with Curly.

Where The Heart Is
Sarah’s next role was in ITV drama series Where The Heart Is where she played district nurse Ruth Goddard.
The show was set in the Yorkshire town of Skelthwaite and hit screens in 1997.
Sarah quit the series in 1999 but the programme became one of ITV’s longest-running shows and at its peak, the drama attracted 12 million viewers.

Clocking Off
The Lancashire-born star appeared as factory employee Yvonne Kolakowski in the BBC One drama series Clocking Off.
The widow had a dysfunctional personal life and Sarah admitted she used her own experiences as a single mother to play the character.
The drama was highly acclaimed but it was axed after four series in 2003.

Last Tango in Halifax
Sarah’s next most notable role was playing Caroline in comedy-drama Last Tango in Halifax on BBC One.
The character was an Oxford-educated headmistress who became involved in a same-sex relationship.
The star was nominated for the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 and 2014 for her inspiring portrayal.

Happy Valley
The crime drama, which first debuted on BBC One in 2014, saw Sarah play single-grandparent Catherine Cawood.
Her character was a police sergeant dealing with the aftermath of her daughter’s rape and subsequent suicide.
Sarah will be reprising her role for the third season of Happy Valley when it returns at the end of this year.
