Rutherford County, Murfreesboro City schools and Middle Tennessee State University will remain closed Wednesday for a second-consecutive snow day.
County Schools spokesman James Evans notified parents "that all Rutherford County schools will remain closed on Wednesday, Jan. 17, because of travel conditions throughout the county."
MTSU President Sidney McPhee also used social media to report that his campus will be off again Wednesday because of inclement weather.
"Be safe and let's start this semester Thursday," McPhee said on Twitter.
All of Linebaugh Library Public Library branches in Murfreesboro, Smryna and Eagleville also will remain closed Wednesday.
La Vergne Public Library will be closed again Wednesday, as well, Mayor Dennis Waldron said.
Early voting to choose a nominee to succeed recently retired state Sen. Jim Tracy will resume from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rutherford County Election Commission office on the Square in Murfreesboro after inclement weather "forced us to close Tuesday" Election Administrator Alan Farley said.
"We'll be back to normal operations Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Public Square location," Farley said.
Early voting at SportsCom also will resume Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Farley said.
“We’re looking to extend the hours on Saturday,” said Farley, who noted that Saturday will be the last day of early voting before the Jan. 25 special primary.
Government offices make adjustments Wednesday

Rutherford County: County offices will be open Wednesday, Mayor Ernest Burgess said.
City of Murfreesboro: Murfreesboro City Hall and other city offices will be open again Wednesday, but city spokesman Mike Browning reported the following adjustments about city services: Sports*Com will open at 6 a.m., and Patterson Park will open at 8 a.m. The Wilderness Station will be open to serve Barfield Crescent Park users. The Murfreesboro Greenway, Cannonsburgh Village, and Bradley Academy Museum will remain closed.
Town of Smyrna: The town of Smyrna is open for business at Town Hall with normal hours, Mayor Mary Esther Reed said. "Our parks are all closed at this to point, and we are asking people to not use the greenways," said Reed, who also confirmed the golf course would be closed.
City of La Vergne: City Hall and all city offices except for the library will be open Wednesday, Mayor Dennis Waldron said. City employees have the option to take a sick day or paid day off if they feel it's unsafe to commute to work, said the mayor, who noted that about 80 percent of City Hall empoyees made it to work Tuesday. Although many residential subdivision streets remain slick, "the main roads are passable," Waldron said.
City of Eagleville: Eagleville city offices will remain open Wednesday after being open Tuesday, Mayor Travis Brown said. The city hired a contractor to plow Cheatham Springs Road, and city crews spread salt on this narrow road, Brown said.
