Dissidia Final Fantasy NT launches for the PlayStation 4 on January 30, but fans of the franchise will have more than one way to pit their favourite characters against each other, with the news that a mobile version of the game called Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia will be arriving on Android and Apple devices in the near future, following a successful launch in Japan.

Taking its inspiration from Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, this game also features a world where Spiritus and Materia are locked in eternal battle, pitting warriors from various realms against each other. When the endless battle becomes too much, the warriors send out a cry for help, which is where the player comes in.

The game features a simplified art style to suit mobile devices, which results in the game having a much cuter feel than its console sibling. Check out a selection of pre-release screenshots below.

Mechanics are broadly similar to the main series, pitting various Final Fantasy characters against each other in combat. In Opera Omnia combat is turn-based rather than the frenetic action of its console counterpar, which indicates more of a reliance on strategy as players defend to allow their Bravery to build before launching an attack to deplete their opponents' HP. There's also the option to play with up to two friends in a variety of multiplayer quests.

Pre-registration is open now on Google Play, which, if you also follow on social media, nets you a bonus of up to 5,000 Gems (in-game currency) at launch.

As of yet, there's no release date but expect more news soon.
