Multi-System Operator DEN Networks added 10,000 new broadband subscribers for the quarter ended December 2017 (Q3 FY18), reaching 215,000 broadband subscribers, up from 205,000 last quarter.
DEN’s subscriber data usage has been growing while ARPU has been falling. For the quarter ended December 2017, ARPU fell to Rs 579, from Rs 644 last quarter, and Rs 752 for the same quarter last year. Average data consumption per household stood at 80GB, up marginally at 2% from 78 GB last quarter, and 35.5% from 59 GB for the same quarter last year.
The company made revenues of Rs 18 crore for the quarter from its broadband segment, which is down 14% YoY from Rs 21 crore in Q3 FY17. In the previous quarter, it made Rs 20 crore. Year to date, DEN’s broadband EBITDA margin was -1%, which is a significant improvement over last year, owing to cost optimisation. This quarter, it reported a positive EBIDTA margin of 2%, and a loss of Rs 7 crore.
Cable Segment
Total revenues from the cable segment stood at Rs 312 crore for the quarter, which is up 12% from Rs 272 crore in Q3 FY17. Cable generated an EBITDA of Rs 82 crore and a profit of Rs 10 crores, against loss of Rs 30 crore in the same quarter last year.
