Nelson County home damaged by chimney fire

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Lovingston Volunteer Fire Department says a home in the Schuyler area was heavily damaged by a chimney fire on Tuesday night.

According to a post on the department's Facebook page, crews from Lovingston, Faber and Nelson County EMS responded to the fire on Irish Road around 6 p.m.

When personnel arrived on the scene, they found smoke coming from the roof of the home and help was requested from Albemarle County and Wintergreen.

Firefighters entered the home to locate and contain the fire, which was marked "under control" around 9 p.m.

No injuries to residents or firefighters were reported, but the home was heavily damaged.

The residents are being helped by family.
