LUVERNE — A Winter Cover Crop Workshop is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 30 at Grand Prairie Events, 105 S. Estey St., Luverne. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m.
Learn what local producers are doing in Rock County.
The workshop will cover herbicide considerations and grazing restrictions when using cover crops; soil health principles and cover crop discussion on what has worked in this area; strategies to incorporate cover crops into livestock uses; a Farmer Panel showcasing each farmer’s cover crop strategy and findings, how they used cover crops and why they added it into their strip-till, no-till, conservation-till systems and livestock systems.
Guest speakers Include: Rock County farmers and cover crop champions Tom Fick, Terry Aukes, Rock SWCD 2016 Outstanding Conservationist Brent Fluit, cattle producer and cover crop farmer Brad Petersen, cover crop champion and Sustainable Farmer Association Livestock & grazing specialist Kent Solberg, forage and cover crop specialist and Millborn Seed Co. Rep. Justin Fruechte and LaCrosse Seed regional sales manager Brandon VanMiddendorp.
