Mild air is returning to KELOLAND! Take a look at high temperatures forecast today.
We have some wind in a few areas, mainly the Buffalo Ridge areas and the far northeastern areas of South Dakota.
Overnight lows are warmer tonight, mainly in the teens and 20s.
Warmer weather is expected tomorrow in the 40s East River and 50s to the west!
Mild weather will continue on Friday, with cooler trends starting Saturday. We'll also start watching a storm system to our southwest on Saturday that will thicken the clouds and deliver the first chances of snow to the region. The storm system will push east and northeast on Sunday, with accumulating snow falling to the left of the low pressure track. That's the biggest unknown at this point.
Both the American and European models suggest a general storm path shown on the map below. Keep in mind these initial projections are subject to change, but there is reasonable agreement that this scenario quite possible.
The Gulf of Mexico will be open for business as well. That will be factor to watch as we look at snowfall amounts later in the week.
For now, enjoy the mild weather. One other interesting trend is the lack of bitter cold behind this system. Whether we get snow or not, we don't see subzero weather coming back for now.
