Having toxic employees in your office can really affect our business. A manager is only as good as their team. Without the team, working like a well-oiled machine to turn out the ROI, a business cannot be its best.

While it's hard to manage staff expectations, it can be even harder to ensure you have the right team in place. Large corporations and blue-chip businesses often have a HR team, not just one person in the role. For SME and Sole Proprietors, this is an unrealistic expectation and therefore, most of the HR decisions are made by the director or owner of the business. In a small team, if there is one toxic employee, this can affect the whole team which in turn is bound to affect productivity and positive outcomes. So how do we ensure we only employ the right puzzle pieces to fit our organizations goals and needs instead of toxic employees?

This is a hard one. However, in this day and era of digital access and using the internet to reach an international market, there are some unconventional solutions to employment. By employing a freelancer or part timer virtually, you can get what you need done, without risking employing the wrong fit for the company.

This can also help your financial budget by not having to pay a full time or part time wage. With a virtual employee or freelancer, you are only paying for the time you need or a by project basics, thus saving you money and increasing your profits.

I’ve personally researched and used the below options and I am very pleased to share them with you in hopes of growing your team without adding a toxic employee that threatens the harmony of your current team.

Fiverr.com:

They can even offer multiple price ranges by using Gig Packages. With Gig Packages, they can offer buyers different service packages at different prices. It's free to sign up and you only pay for what you need. Once you find a Gig you like, click it for more information, such as a description of the service, portfolio or samples of work, and pricing. Services offered include writing, design, video and audio, business services, programming and digital services.

Freelancer.com:

Works like Fiverr, however freelancers bid for your project rather than setting their own pricing. Post your project and receive competitive bids from freelancers within minutes. The freelancers are in a reputation system will make it easy to find the perfect freelancer for your job. It's a simple and safe way to get work done online. They have millions of freelancers for thousands of freelance jobs: from web design, mobile app development, virtual assistants, product manufacturing and graphic design. Whatever your needs, there will be a freelancer to get it done.

You can also save your files in PDF print ready format. Canva has the option to use images form there stock photo and element collections for $1 per item, however, you can produce nearly 90% of your content using their free items.

Virtual Assistant (VA):

A virtual assistant is someone who works remotely to assist you in all your business needs. They are usually home-based skilled professionals that offer companies, businesses, and entrepreneurs administrative support. You can regularly communicate through Skype meetings, emails and Whats App video calls. Having a virtual assistant differs from a freelancer as when you sign up with a virtual assistant company, you are allocated an employee based on your needs, and you then continue working with that same person so they really do become part of your team.

As you see, it’s very easy to virtually fill a need or a hole in your business without having to employ a full time or part time toxic employees that could ruin the balance of your successful team.
