Seacoast Roundup: STA/winnacunnet picks up win in overtime

DOVER — Kylie Youngclaus scored at 4:38 of overtime from Sarah Sullivan to give STA/Winnacunnet its second win of the D-I girls hockey season.

Youngclaus and Sullivan also combined on the first goal, while Brialee Logue netted the second goal unassisted.

Jess Jin made her first start in net to get the win. STA/Winnacunnet killed five penalties.

STA/Winnacunnet (2-3) hosts Oyster River/Portsmouth Saturday night. Keene/Monadnock/Fall Mt. is 2-5.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Epping 42, Raymond 34

EPPING — Evelyn Carlton netted nine points, teammates Katie Pelletier and Ashlyn Vensel chipped in seven apiece and the Blue Devils fended off Division III Raymond to improve to 7-1 on the season.

The Blue Devils — currently sitting in the Division IV top five — got five points from Emma Roussel and four apiece from Becky Milbury, Hayley Pelletier and Oakley Lustenberger in the win. Raymond dropped to 2-8.

Epping will take a five-game win streak into Friday’s road game at Littleton.

St. Thomas 57, Somersworth 27

DOVER — Maggie Marsh scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Saints to the D-III win and improve to 6-3.

Maddie Predaris added 16 points and Chloe Benelli played good defense and tossed in nine points.

STA led 28-12 at the half. The Saints play at Campbell Friday.

Coe-Brown 52, Kingswood 44

The bears led 29-18 at the half, but Kingswood cut the lead to 35-33 after three with a 15-6 run.

Coe-Brown (3-5) took the game back in the fourth with a 17-point quarter.

Ahna McCusker led the way with a double-double (23 points, 16 rebounds). Valentina White added 13 points and seven boards.

The Bears travel to Bow on Friday.

 

 

 

BOYS BASKETBALL

Coe-Brown 62, Kingswood 48

WOLFEBORO — Brendan eaton scored 27 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to spark the bears to a D-II road win Tuesday.

Luke McCusker added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists, while Albert Lapiejko had eight points and four rebounds. Ben Watson chipped in with four points and four boards.

Coe-Brown (5-1) hosts Bow Friday.

Alvirne 77, Dover 69

HUDSON — The Green Wave stayed close int his Division I battle, but could not catch the Broncos.

An ankle injury late in the third quarter to senior forward John Cantwell didn't help. He did not play the rest of the game.

Dover (1-5) trailed by three points at the half and five at the end of three.

Ty Vitko led the way with 25 points, while Kinglsey breen added 12 and Griffin Carloni had nine.

Dover hosts Nashua North Friday. Alvirne is 5-1.

 

 

 

FRESHMAN BOYS BASKETBALL

Portsmouth 51, Spaulding 43

ROCHESTER — Cam Francois (17 points) and Luke Bouchard (16) led the way as the Clippers climbed to 4-2 on the season. Zack Yeaton chipped in eight points for PHS.

JV GIRLS BASKETBALL

Dover 32, Alvirne 20

DOVER — Dover won its third game, taking an 18-10 lead into halftime led by Alaina Osborne and Kylie Nelson-Marois who contributed four points each.

Dover extended the lead to 29-15 after three quarters. Giana Lopez led all scorers with eight points. Katie and Kyra Cantwell chipped in with five and four points, respectively, for the Green Wave.
